About St Cuthbert's House
The Kitchen
The kitchen opens off the Cuthbert Room, the main space, and is in the former vestry.
The original chimney breast accommodates the Rangemaster Elan dual-fuelled cooking range, and some original heavy timbers have been incorporated as lintols over the window and chimney breast.
An oak kitchen was chosen to complement the communion table, which had long been earmarked as the serving island in the kitchen’s design.
A new opening, with a traditional hardwood door, gives access to the utility area outside. There's a high-tech and very efficient condensing boiler which provides the heating and hot water throughout the house.
There’s also a professional LG steam finish washing machine, a Siemens condensing tumble dryer, and a swishy fridge-freezer which dispenses ice cubes! Lighting, worktops and high-quality modern facilities make the kitchen a joy to work in. That’s what Jill told me…
