Some comments...

The Cuthbert Room, St Cuthbert's House...from our guestbook

It's lovely to have people wanting to write nice comments in our guestbook as they leave. Here are a smattering of them - so you can see what others have thought, following their stay! The ones I've included, I've copied word for word...

A few weeks ago, we had a party of four stay with us for a couple of nights, and in conversation during their last evening, Michael told us he was a 'travel writer'. This week he sent us a lovely piece he's written about St Cuthbert's House, and he's happy for me to post some excerpts here:
Everyone who goes ‘B&Bing’ reaches a high when they unearth a real gem of accommodation. You have a mixed urge to broadcast your find to the world yet wish it to quietly remain a secret to yourself.
This was the feeling four of us had in July, from two nights at St Cuthberts House...
The well sized six-ensuite bedrooms are contemporarily furnished to a higher standard than I have experienced in many a good three star hotel, while the extensive lounge and breakfast area is an intriguing mix of modern furniture and old chapel fittings - including pulpit and small organ!
It is hard to imagine what else could be placed on the printed breakfast menu when staying in a guest house, nor how more attentive and friendly could be your hosts. It is unfortunately in my nature as a travel professional to easily find fault in overnight accommodation of any grade, and when I say that the only flaw I experienced was the lack of a soap tray in my bath, then you will appreciate how satisfactory and enjoyable I rated my stay at St Cuthberts.
And its location, too, warrants a five star rating. Within half an hour you can be in Alnwick with its great contemporary gardens and massive historic castle, you can be on the bird paradise islands of Farne, or surveying Holy Island with its Lindisfarne priory and castle. Ten minutes driving and you are in rolling hills of the Northumbria National Park and in five minutes you can be down on the harbour-side viewing the fisherman landing their catch. A bonus was finding for dinner in Seahouses on successive evenings two superb reasonably priced restaurants.
We paid £40 per person per night in the main summer season: it was worth more. Blessings to the unique St Cuthberts and its enterprising owners.
Thanks Michael! We put a soap tray in that bathroom...

Beautifully designed, and finished to a great standard
