St Cuthbert's House won Silver at the EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence 2011 in the Guest Accommodation category - one of only two B&B's to receive this national award.

Regional
Sustainable Tourism Business of the Year at the North-East Tourism Awards 2011;
Guest Accommodation of the Year at the NorthEast Tourism Awards 2010;
Bronze in the Guest Accommoation category at the North-East Tourism Awards 2009.

Jeff is a former senior uniformed officer, is accustomed to speaking live on camera, radio and large stages, and is happy to provide quotes and soundbites on tourism-related issues.

St Cuthbert's House was formerly a Presbyterian church, built in 1810. It is a Grade II listed building.

Jill had very clear ideas as she designed the restoration, and has brought a real flair to the building - for example, by incorporating a sweeping continuous handrail on an imposing central stairway, integrating the original pulpit and communion table into the living spaces, and utilising ingenious lighting effects throughout.

Following the renovation, the former congregation returned for a service of 'blessing' the house, and all were delighted to see their old building brought back to life.

St Cuthbert's House is graded 5-star Gold Award by VisitBritain, and also has a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. It has achieved a coveted VisitBritain 'Breakfast Award' - awarded to only a small proportion of accredited businesses.

St Cuthbert's House is passionate about high-quality, local food and produce, and champions many distinctive local food suppliers.

Double & Twin rooms cost between £95-£105. St Cuthbert's House welcomes children over 12 yrs.

Evening meals are available occasionally.

The business has been featured in the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, the Observer, Time Out UK and a host of web and magazine features about 'Green Tourism', and the Northumberland Coast. It also featured in a BBC 'Songs of Praise' programme in January 2009. Links and excerpts from these features are available on this page.

Jeff has led workshops for tourism businesses, on the subjects of online marketing and social media. St Cuthbert's House is active and effective in this area, and is amongst the leaders in the early-adoption of these powerful tools within the tourism sector.

Jeff & Jill are musicians, and have made several recordings in their home-studio as part of a local community venture - which have sold many thousands of copies.

When guests are celebrating special events, breakfast is often 'piped in' by Jill, who plays the Northumbrian Pipes.
