Birdwatching

Puffins on the Farne IslandsNorthumberland is one of the most awe-inspiring places in the UK to watch birds.  Spring brings the arrival of the summer migrants. Summer is the time to observe the breeding seabird colonies.  Autumn is migration season, and in recent years there have been some exciting and rare opportunities as the easterly winds have blown.  And winter – truly the connoisseur’s season.  Whatever the time of year, there’s always something remarkable to savour.

The photographs on this page were taken by our friend Wayne Geater, who loves to come photographing the birds on the Farnes. You can se more of his pictures on his site, which is here.

Our birding stays are facilitated by a local expert with years of experience in identifying the birds and the best places to see them.  This is an experience like no other in the birdwatching realm!
