Castles, Houses & Gardens Theme
A home in the country...
The Border wars of the 14th-16th centuries have bestowed Northumberland with more castles than any other English county. Other fortified buildings – bastles and pele towers – are numerous too, and when we add in the gorgeous country houses available to visit, there’s no shortage of interesting and beautiful places to explore. Alnwick, Bamburgh, Aydon, Belsay Hall, Berwick Town Walls, Chillingham, Chipchase, Dunstanburgh, Edlingham, Etal, Harbottle, Kielder Castle Visitor Centre, Lindisfarne, Norham, Warkworth – all fascinating in their own right, and many with outstanding and beautiful gardens to see.
The Castles, Houses and Gardens stay will transport you to another world – every day! We’ll visit some of the very best examples of each, and in the company of an expert and enthusiastic host, we’ll learn the stories which have made them what they are today.
The all-inclusive price covers:
• Transfers to and from Newcastle airport or Berwick-upon-Tweed railway station;
• The company of a guide and facilitator for the duration of your stay;
