We are delighted to welcome author, photographer, professional wildlife guide and owner of Northern Experience Wildlife Tours, Martin Kitching, to St Cuthbert’s House as tutor for our Wildlife Holidays.

Martin was born in the East Riding of Yorkshire but for the last 16 years, apart from brief spells in Texas and Arizona, has made Northumberland his home; developing an intimate knowledge of the county and it’s wildlife and both editing and authoring the highly-rated annual report ‘Birds in Northumbria’.

Martin’s otter-spotting talents were featured in North East Life magazine in October 2008 and, in December 2008, The Guardian listed Northern Experience Wildlife Tours in its top 10 wildlife holidays in the UK and in the top 100 wildlife adventures in the world. He is also a wildlife/birdwatching walk leader for Shepherd’s Walks, has led walks for the Northumberland National Park Authority and provides entertaining slide shows concentrating on Northumberland’s wildlife.

Martin’s passion for the landscapes and wildlife of Northumberland, particularly our offshore birds and animals, and his extensive guiding experience, make him the perfect host for our Wildlife Holidays. His easy-going nature, and delight in sharing wildlife experiences and time ‘in the field’ with other people, mean you can be assured of a relaxed, informative and informal atmosphere in which to enjoy searching for Northumberland’s wildlife.

Places are limited to twelve participants, so as to ensure that everyone is able to benefit from Martin’s experience and guidance.
