We were woken this morning by our dog Trudy, who was crazy-barking to tell us something was wrong. When we came to investigate, we found that a young couple had pitched their tent on some rough ground about 3 inches from our garden fence last night, and were now getting up - early. Naturally, we muttered unkind things under our breath.
A while later, after the tent was packed away, the SCH doorbell rang, and when we answered a young man asked 'can you serve us some tea please?' We were a bit taken aback, but it seemed like the right thing to make them a cuppa. So we did - and enjoyed a most delightful, unexpected encounter with two lovely, bright young people. He was from Italy, and she from Morocco.
Sometimes the best bits of life just take you by surprise, and it was a nice reminder to us that we need to be ready to receive them!
They didn't offer to wash up though... The youth of today, huh
