We had a such a magical night with Reg Meuross playing the first of our house-concerts at St Cuthbert's House on Saturday night. He was wonderful, and there was a really lovely vibe. Lots of video to come, but here's a snapshot taken on the phone, from the back of the room!
Reg was introduced onstage at the Royal Albert hall by Mike Harding as 'one of the best singer-songwriters this country has ever produced'. The list of those musicians he has played with, and been endorsed by, reads like a who's-who of the music establishment - and not just the folkies either. Pete Townshend listed one of Reg's albums amongst his favourites!
So how is it that someone with such a gentle yet deep grasp of the human condition, who can write such beautiful, mature and poignant songs which make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, doesn't get the 'big break' - whilst our airwaves are filled with banality most of the time? How does that work?
Reg is a real pro, able to move his crowd from hilarity to tears within a few moments. We had a special night here on Saturday.
