Our Rooms

The Cuthbert Room

Time to relax and unwind ...

...so come and curl up on a comfy sofa

The Cuthbert Room is the heart of the house, opening off the gorgeous downstairs hallway to reveal a warm, welcoming, light and spacious hideaway which you might not want to leave....

It provides space for lounging at one side - where there are four soft and welcoming sofas for you to sink into with a glass of wine or a good book. The other end is the setting for your leisurely breakfast, at tables set with crisp white linen and fine bone china.

There are books here - and elsewhere around the house - which you're welcome to borrow for a good read. You can even swap the ones you've finished reading, for something else. There is also a small library of DVDs if you fancy curling up to watch a film in your room, and of course there is tons of information about things to see and do in the local area.

The bar is available whenever you are. You can simply serve yourself from the well-stocked shelves, or the adjacent chiller, and pop a bar chitty in the box - we'll add it to your bill for you.

The Cuthbert Room is a lovely, peaceful place to relax. It's part of the former sanctuary of the church, and during the renovation we were able to re-integrate several interesting bits of the original room. The old harmonium, the elegant wooden pillars, the original wooden flooring, the ancient wood panelling lining each end of the room, and the majestic sweep of the tall windows - these features have been standing in position for over two hundred years, and now lend their air of traditional serenity to the modern, cosy lounge.

Come on, kick off your shoes and curl up on a sofa.

The Bede Room

The Bede room is a ground floor room, offering easy, level access to the room from the car park, and from there into the dining room and all communal areas of the house. It is therefore particularly suitable for guests with mobility problems. Indeed one guest with such special requirements wrote that it was 'the best accessible room we have stayed in anywhere in the UK'.

It is no less luxurious than any of our other rooms, and indeed has a slightly larger ensuite bathroom, with a walk-in wetroom (with curtained-off shower area) making for a really decadent showering experience. For guests with any mobility issues, we can affix a range of grab rails if they are required.  These are removeable, and are not left in place - so as not to affect the sleek and luxurious lines of the wetroom!

It has all our 'standard' bedroom facilities - that luxurious SuperKing-size bed (Bede can also be set up with two 3' singles), CD/DAB radio, LCD flat-panel TV, DVD player, Nespresso machine with a supply of Grand Crus coffee, salon-quality hairdryer, kettle and a very wide range of drinks. There are luxury Gilchrist & Soames' toiletries, crisp white Egyptian Cotton sheets, lavish duvets and pillows, and a supply of fluffy white towels, dressing gowns and slippers.

Bede (like all rooms) has gorgeous, heavy full-length blackout curtains and pelmet, to aid a really good night’s sleep.

The furniture is solid wood, and the Bede room has a built-in wardrobe with wooden hangers, offering plenty of storage space for all those things you brought just in case you needed them...

All of our rooms offer free internet access, via wifi or network ports.

The Oswald Room

The Oswald room is one of our two ground floor bedrooms, giving very easy level access from the car park.  (However, if you have any mobility issues and choose Oswald for this reason, please note that the ensuite bathroom has a beautiful bath with shower over - so you need to be able to negotiate that!)  The sunlight streams in during the late afternoon and evening, bringing the classic, subtle colours to life.

It has the same excellent facilities offered in each of our rooms: kettle and extensive choice of drinks, LCD TV, DVD, CD/DAB radio, Nespresso machine with a supply of Grand Crus coffee, salon-quality hairdryer, and a beautifully comfortable posture-sprung bed - which can be set up as either 6'SuperKing-size or 3' Twin configuration. The room has beautiful, hand-made solid wooden furniture, offering lots of storage space, with a plentiful supply of heavy woden hangers in the wardrobe.

The bed is made up with elegant and luxurious crisp Egyptian Cotton sheets and gorgeous pillows and duvets, and there are fluffy white towels, dressing gowns and slippers too.

Oswald (like all rooms) has gorgeous, heavy full-length blackout curtains and pelmet, to aid a really good night’s sleep.

The luxurious ensuite bathroom has a bath, with an enlarged shower-cubicle area at one end, and there is a supply of indulgent Gilchrist & Soames' toiletries for you too.

All of our rooms offer free internet access, via wifi or network ports.

The Hild Room

When the afternoon light streams into the Hild Room, the tasteful, classic colours exude peace and tranquility...

It has all of our 'standard' bedroom facilities of course - high-quality SuperKing-size beds (Hild can also be made up with two 3' twin beds), LCD flat-panel TV, DVD player, CD/DAB radio, Nespresso machine with a supply of Grand Crus coffee, kettle with drinks for every taste (there's also a supply of fresh milk in the fridge in the main Cuthbert Room for you), salon-quality hairdryer, and solid wooden hand-built furniture. There is a supply of heavy wooden hangers in the wardrobe, and ample storage space to hold everything you thought you'd better pack...

The bed is made up with beautifully crisp Egyptian Cotton sheets, luxurious deep duvets and pillows, and there's a pile of fluffy white towels, dressing gowns and slippers.

Hild (like all rooms) has gorgeous, heavy full-length blackout curtains and pelmet, to aid a really good night’s sleep.

This room also offers a glimpse of Bamburgh Castle, away in the distance over the rooftops!

The ensuite bathroom has a comfortable bath for you to soak in, with classic, heavy chrome fittings, and a shower area at one end.

There is a supply of luxurious Gilchrist & Soames' toiletries for you in your bathroom.

Free internet access, via wifi or network ports, is available throughout the house.

The Brigid Room

The Brigid Room, like the Hild Room, welcomes the afternoon sunlight through its first-floor window, bringing the tasteful and classic colours bursting into light.

It has all of our 'standard' bedroom facilities - high-quality SuperKing-size beds (Brigid can also be set up with two 3' singles), LCD flat-panel TV, DVD, CD/DAB radio, Nespresso machine with a supply of Grand Crus coffee, kettle with a wide range of drinks, salon-quality hairdryer, and solid wooden hand-built furniture. There is a supply of heavy wooden hangers in the wardrobe, and ample storage space to unpack everything you brought 'just in case'...

The Columba Room

Columba - like Aidan - is a south-facing front room, with a beautiful original arched and frosted window, that lets the morning light pour in. The classic wall-colours, and the deep, full curtains and pelmets just burst with light and warmth.

The furniture is hand-made from solid wood, and this room has a large built-in wardrobe well-stocked with heavy wooden hangers.

The ensuite bathroom has a very large shower enclosure, and is controlled by beautiful heavy fittings, amidst a rich setting of chrome, black and deep red. You won't want to come out... However, it's worth pointing out that the entrance to this shower is via a door which is just 15" wide - so if you are very generously-proportioned then this detail can be important!

Columba has all our 'standard' bedroom facilities of course - SuperKing-size posture-sprung bed (Columba is a 'double-only' room), LCD flat-panel TV, DVD, CD/DAB radio, salon-quality hairdryer, Nespresso machine with a supply of Grand Crus coffee, kettle and well-stocked drinks tray, and beautiful crisp Egyptian Cotton sheets, deep luxurious pillows and duvets, and a supply of fluffy white towels, dressing gowns and slippers.

The Aidan Room

The furniture is hand-made and solid wood, and the Aidan room incorporates a built-in wardrobe with a plentiful supply of heavy wooden hangers.
