Time to relax and unwind ...
...so come and curl up on a comfy sofa
The Cuthbert Room is the heart of the house, opening off the gorgeous downstairs hallway to reveal a warm, welcoming, light and spacious hideaway which you might not want to leave....
It provides space for lounging at one side - where there are four soft and welcoming sofas for you to sink into with a glass of wine or a good book. The other end is the setting for your leisurely breakfast, at tables set with crisp white linen and fine bone china.
There are books here - and elsewhere around the house - which you're welcome to borrow for a good read. You can even swap the ones you've finished reading, for something else. There is also a small library of DVDs if you fancy curling up to watch a film in your room, and of course there is tons of information about things to see and do in the local area.
The bar is available whenever you are. You can simply serve yourself from the well-stocked shelves, or the adjacent chiller, and pop a bar chitty in the box - we'll add it to your bill for you.
The Cuthbert Room is a lovely, peaceful place to relax. It's part of the former sanctuary of the church, and during the renovation we were able to re-integrate several interesting bits of the original room. The old harmonium, the elegant wooden pillars, the original wooden flooring, the ancient wood panelling lining each end of the room, and the majestic sweep of the tall windows - these features have been standing in position for over two hundred years, and now lend their air of traditional serenity to the modern, cosy lounge.
Come on, kick off your shoes and curl up on a sofa.
